\"poker\" <\/p>\n

Poker is a card game where you bet over a series of rounds to win the pot. There are many different versions of poker, but they all have the same basic principles.<\/p>\n

Each player starts with a supply of chips that are used to represent their stakes in the game. A white chip is worth the minimum ante or bet, and a red chip is worth five whites. Some games are played with \u201cpot limit\u201d rules, meaning that a player can only raise their bet to the amount of their current stack plus the amount raised by the last active player.<\/p>\n

After each player receives their two hole cards there is a round of betting. This is initiated by mandatory bets known as the blinds that are placed in the pot by the players to the left of the dealer.<\/p>\n

When a player\u2019s turn comes to act they must either call (match the amount of the previous bet), raise it, or drop. When a player drops they do not place any more chips into the pot and are out of the hand.<\/p>\n

One of the most important aspects of poker strategy is looking beyond your own cards and thinking about what cards your opponents might have. You can use this information to make bets that put pressure on your opponent to fold \u2013 even when you are not the strongest hand.
